10 Overnight Beauty Tips.

By the end of this post there will be whole new meaning behind the term 'beauty sleep'. Sleeping beauty puts us all to shame, who wakes up looking that flawless? Not me. If you follow these simple beauty tips, you'll feel like the star of your own exotic Disney Movie!

Soft Feeties!

We all have killer strappy heels that make our legs look fantastic! But if our feet aren't up to scratch then it ruins the entire look! How do you combat that? Easily! When your climbing into your comfy bed, put a layer of Vaseline on the soles of your feet, pop on some cosy socks and curl up. When you wake up the next morning your feet will be ready to show off! The socks help bind the moisture to your feet!

De-Puff Those Pretty Eyes.

Is there anything worse than waking upto puffy eyes? I think not! Not to worry, easy to combat! Sleep with an extra pillow and lie on your back. It allows the fluid in your eyes to drain better and minimizes puffyness! Also don't forget your eye creams, invest in one that lists caffeine as an ingredient, it helps keep fluid moving!

Beautiful Waves?

I hated seeing other people with beautiful waves, made me so jealous, until I learnt this neat little trick. Either wash your hair and leave it to go damp, or lightly spray it with some water. When the hair is damy, either braid or twist it, depending on your preferred type of curl! (I like to twist it) wake up to beautiful wavy locks that will have everyone coeting your locks! Bedhead never looked so good.

Moisturise. Moisturise. Moisturise.

Ladies with dry skin? No need to thank me for this life saving tip. Invest in a dehumidifier. Sounds crazy I know, but putting this in your bedrooom will make all the difference. It infuses the dry air with moisture which plumps your skin and leaves your face hydrated!

Too Young To Worry About Wrinkles?

Think again. You're never too young to start protecting your skin from those silly little creases. Cotton pillows cause creases in your skin that will quickly turn into wrinkles! Treat yourself and your face to silk or satin pillow cases, it will do wonders for your face and decrease your risk of wrinkles!

Pearly Whites?

If you want whiter teeth simply brush your teeth with baking soda, leave it on for 5-6 minutes before thoroughly rinsing! Why should I do this at night? because you can't eat or drink for at least 50 minutes after doing this, which makes it a perfect night time routine. Make sure you only do this once per week to preserve your tooth enamel.

Brighten Your Skin.

Skin products that contain retinol are vitamin c are best applied or night, because believe it or not, sunlight can actually deactivate them and stop them working to their full potential.

Lengthen Lashes.

I think we all covet those luscious movie star lashes, without the glue and the fuss. Well this simple treatment makes that possible. Using a clean spoolie apply castor oil to your lashes each night, in the morning just wash it off with warm water and wash your face as usual. Castor oil contains omega 6 fatty acids whuch help prevent breakages and moisturises lashes, you'll see amazing results after just a few weeks.

Repair That Hair!

Before you sleep, apply leave in condition all over you hair, wake up to soft, silky locks! Sleeping in it will give it more time to penetrate the hair.

Smooth.

At bed time, apply cuticle cream to your nail beds and moisturiser to your hands. Slip on some cotton/latex gloves and hit the hey. When you wake up you'll have soft hydrated skin!

I hope you enjoyed my my tips and they help you make the most of your beauty sleep.. now stay away from that spindle!

Ombré Nail Art - Easy Tutorial

By now you all probably know how much I love this lovely ombré trend! It's just so pretty! If you love it as much as I do then please have a gander at my ombré lips tutorial!

These ombré nails are so simple to do, but luckily they don't look it. This unique look will have your friends begging you for style tips (and so they should)!

What will I need for this look? Why thank you for asking!

You will need, as many shades of nail polish as you're going to play with in this look, this could be 2, 4 or any number that suits your fancy! A triangular make-up sponge and some q tips!

How do I get such gorgeous nails? Let me tell you!

Step 1:

Paint your nails the lightest shade you've picked, and let it dry completely.

Step 2:

Take your make-up sponge and paint thin stripes starting at the top of the sponge. You should do this in shade order, either lightest to darkest or darkest to lightest!

Step 3:

Dab the sponge onto your nail to apply the colours! Don't press too hard and move it gently up and down and side to side to create a seamless blending of colours.

Step 4:

Let it dry and then repeat step 3 until you have the desired opacity. (Remember to let each coat dry before reapplying!)

Step 5:

To help flawlessly blend the colours add your favourite top coat.

Step 6:

Use the Q tips to clean up any excess polish around your finger nails.

Step 7:

If you want an extra dazzling look, you can always add a sprinkle of glitter!

4 Tips For Photographing Beauty Products

I don't know abut all you other beautiful bloggers, but when I'm doing a post if my photographs are god awful, or good but not as good as I want them to be, then it puts a downer on my whole post, I don't feel like I'm making my point or showing my products full potential.

Think about the photographs you see on other people's blogs? The one that really draw you in and make you read their posts, even if your never gonna replicate their ideas. Those photo's are bright, beautifully staged and creative. This posts is going to give you a few simple tips to help you take better photographs wether it be for your blog, instagram or just because you love photography!

Ok, I want you to take a minute to look at the photographs dotted down the side of this post and decide what you like about them, what do you notice? What stands out? Is it the background? The brightness? The rich colours? Before you can take a 'good' photograph, you have to understand what a 'good' photograph is to you! Look at your favourite beauty blogs, what is about their photographs that you love? Don't get me wrong I'm no professional, all though I do study cinematography, and art direction (setting the scene before you take a photograph, video, film a movie) at university so, I have been taught by professionals from the media industry!

Tip one | Lighting:

I love lighting, when ever I have to light the perfect shot for the film I'm making, I get excited BUT I found it mega hard when I first got started, luckily, I'm not suggesting you guys use a fancy professional lighting kit, this tip in so simple, but will make all the difference to your pictures!
The main place amateur photographers go wrong when they're first starting out, is they thing the object their photographing has to be in direct sunlight, this was a mistake I made, time and time again. This however couldn't really be farther from the truth, ok you wanna think bright, but not too bright. You want to take your photographs near a bright light source like a large open window or a door, but not in the midday sun, outside, on your sidewalk in front of your house. Playing around with lighting is a lot of fun, there isn't a correct way to light your set/stage. Sometimes it's more flattering to have light coming from one side or the other, other times it's more flattering to have your products facing the light, nut natura light is always best! try desperately to avoid taking photographs at night, or with the flash on.The artificial light distorts the color in your photos, while the natural light brings out the beauty of the products you’re showcasing. That’s the overall goal afterall, isn’t it?

Tip two | Props:

Staging your photographs and including props can really make them look more alluring and can create a story within your picture. As you can see for the photographs of the hair products, the hair clips and the ribbon have been used to subtly style the photograph! They help add a little something extra to the photograph that really draws you in!

Tip three | Backgrounds:

Ok, I think we're all agreed no-one  wants to see your messy living room or Kitchen in the background of your pretty blog pictures! It's just not appealing and it draws your focus from what you're actually looking trying to showcase, it's so easy to rectify though! Just grab a plain white poster board, or a chalk board and set it up as the background for your photographs! Remember if your shooting from above, whats under your product is even more important than you're back drop. You could find some interesting tiling or decking around your house and try that out, just make sure you do what works best for your photograph and most importantly the product your showing off.

Tip four | Angles:

Don't just choose an angle and take a picture, take a thousand pictures take one from every possible angle and play around with it! Each angle will capture different shadows and light the product in different ways. Get on the floor and take a photograph from there, climb on a chair and get way aboove the photograph, take one from there, I assure you when you look through them, you will be pleasantly surprised and you won't be using the first photograph you took!

Follow these tips and you'll be taking beautiful photographs in no time not just for your beauty blog, but for everything, lighting is the key aspect in my opinion, it just takes practice.
