Don't you just LOVE a good movie?

As a media writing and production student I'm addicted (as I'm sure you'd imagine) to Films, Tv and Writing.

There are a LOT of good films and tv shows coming out this year, and I am highly anticipating a lot of them. I'm going to talk about some of the ones I can't wait to grab my popcorn and watch and why. I'm also going to link you to some amazing trailers, so get comfy, grab a snack and prepare to fall completely in love.

If you want more information just click the names of films/ actors/ actresses to be taken straight to their IMDB.

Divergent:-

Divergent is a sci-fi, action, thriller that tells the story of female lead Tris (Shailene Woodley). She lives in a world divided into fractions based on your virtues, when Tris's test comes back inconclusive she discovers she is a 'divergent' and won't fit in to any of the factions.Discovering that there is a plot underway to kill all the divergents Tris with the help of  four (Theo James) must discover why being a divergent is so dangerous

I can not contain my excitement for this wonderful story, which will be coming to UK cinemas on 04/04/2014. If any of my American readers have been lucky enough to see this already, please comment and tell me that it's amazing and wonderful and does the books justice ok? This is a film adaptation of the book Divergent written by Veronica Roth.

Rated at a Pg-13 this film is a must see. Rated 7.6 on imdb.com

Recommended for fans of : The Hunger Games, The Perks Of Being A Wall Flower and The Great Gatsby

Maleficent

Maleficent is an action, adventure drama telling the unknown story of Sleeping Beauty's villain Maleficent (Angelina Jolie). In this tale we will see the events unfold that turn Maleficent's heart cold and lead to her cursing poor baby Aurora (Elle Fanning), only to learn later, that Aurora might be the key to peace in the land.

Ok, ok, I'm going to try and stop squealing now. HOW INCREDIBLY EXCITING IS THIS. I think deep inside every single one of us is a Disney loving softie, now that doesn't mean your still not a bad ass, you are, but who could not be excited by this? It's a disney Villain, it's Angelina Jolie AND as is that was enough of a sell, Lana Del Ray is performing Once Upon A Dream on the soundtrack. This masterpiece is coming to UK screens on 28/05/2014 (finally we're getting a film before America). Ok, you can freak with excitement now.

Rated PG.

Recommended for fans of : Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and The Huntsman, Beowulf and Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland.

watch the trailer.

X-Men: Days of Future Past

This fantasy, action adventure follows Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) as the X-Men send him back in time to stop a catastrophic event, that would kill both humans and mutants, from happening.

I won't lie, half of me is so excited to see this and the other half of me is a bit worried that they can't keep making the X-Men movies, eventually there going to get old and boring. I will be tuning in to see this however when it land in UK cinemas on 22/05/2014. I've got my fingers crossed that this will be epic, what do you guys think? Will this sink or swim?

There is no classification for this film yet.

Recommended for fans of: X-men, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Avengers, Man Of Steel, The Dark Knight.

Watch the trailer.

 The Amazing Spider-Man 2

This fantasy, action adventure centers around Peter Parker ( Andrew Garfield) as the mysterious company Oscorp send various assailants after him, impacting heavily on his everyday life.

I won't lie I love the Spider-Man movies, all of them. I loved Tobey Maguire and I love Andrew Garfield. I expect nothing less than sublime perfection from this movie, I mean c'mon its SPIDER-MAN. If that isn't enough of an allure Emma Stone would be enough to drive me in to the cinema on 18/04/2014 when it's released in the UK. How perfect can one woman be?

Rated PG-13

Recommended for fans of: The Mummy, Hellboy, Pirates of The Caribbean, and Lord of The Rings.

Watch the trailer.

 Transformers: Age of Extinction

A sci-fi, action adventure that spins the tale of Tessa (Nicola Peltz) and her father (Mark Wahlberg) as they have the eyes of decepticons, autobots, and the government trained upon them after an important discovery.

I know, I know we miss Shia and Megan. I am beside myself over the fact that they're aren't in this film, why? Because I'm not going to be able to stop my decepticon loving behind going to the  cinema to see this when it's released in the UK on 10/07/14. These lovable little car robot things will still have me obsessing in 10 years if they're still making these fabulous films!

This film hasn't been classified yet.

Recommended for fans of: Transformers, Avatar, Real Steel, Cowboys and Aliens and I Am Number Four

Watch the trailer

The Maze Runner

A sci-fi, action, thriller about Thomas (Dylan O'Brien) and a group of friends who find themselves in a huge maze infested with deadly creatures, with no memories of their past lives.

This is another one of those posts when I'm trying desperately not to squeal, but that's because of the lead actor IT'S DYLAN O'BRIEN. Bajsdbojwhebfhbef, is it even humanly possible to not go and see a film starring him? How someone could resist is far beyond me. I'll be first in the que on 24/10/2014 when this piece of cinematic magic arrives in my local UK cinema. if you don't know who Dylan O'Brien is go and see this film and discover him, if you do know who he is, go and see this film and stare at his amazingness. This is tied for my most anticipated film of the year.

This does not yet have a classification.

Recommended for fans of:  I Am Number Four, Babylon AD, The Hunger Games, and A Fault In Our Star.

Watch the trailer.

The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay Part One

This action, adventure drama centres on Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) as she reluctantly becomes the mocking jay, a rebellious symbol waging a war against the capitol.

SHE WILL BE BACK, MY KATNISS. YEY YEY YEY. I don't understand how anyone can not love this series. This is based on the ever wonderful novels by Suzanne Collins - The Hunger Games series. I can't wait to see this film, I'm going to go to the cinema the day before and watch the first two films, then watch the newest film at midnight as it turns 21/11/2014. My most anticipated film of the year. I love love love this series. Team Peeta.

Buzz Kill

I had an amazing reaction to the script I posted a couple of days ago. Thank you all so much! I've been asked to write a new one as part of my degree assessments. It has to be 20-30 minutes and can be about whatever I want. I've decided upon a crime drama.

Well, I've completed my first act. It's like 6/7 pages. I'm going to post it on here for a sneaky peaky off you lovely people. I hope you guys enjoy reading it! Writing it was an absolute treat, so many twists and turns! If you like it keep your eye out for the second act, coming soon! :)

INT. EVE’S BEDROOM. DAY

EVE COLLINS – Strikingly beautiful, with piercing green eyes and sleek chocolate brown hair – sits at a dressing table in front of her mirror, cosmetics and make-up litter the surface. The sound of the morning news radiates from a television left on in another room.

Eve slides a layer of red lipstick across her lips.

INT. EVE’S HALLWAY. DAY.

Eve glides past her front door toward her living room a cup of coffee in hand. The door has several locks scattered across the thick frame.

INT. EVE’S LIVING ROOM. DAY

Two black leather couches point towards the TV. Eve takes a sip of her coffee and sits the mug on a coffee table in front of her. She retrieves one of the many fashion magazines stacked next to her cup and flounces comfortably on to one of the couches. She begins to flick through the magazine.

NEWS REPORTER [FROM TELEVISION]

Eve drops the magazine to the floor and bolts upright, sitting forward cradling her face in fear and disbelief she fixates onto the television.

INT. VIRGINIA STATE POLICE STATION. DAY

LIEUTENANT TOBY PARKER slumps at his desk. The tie of his suit is askew. He anxiously runs his fingers through his dishevelled short brown hair.

On his desk is a picture of a carefree version of himself and his sister ABIGAIL PARKER. Abigail is depicted smiling happily, her waist length blonde hair worn in two plaits by her face.

SPECIAL AGENT RORY BENEDICT slams a newspaper on to Lieutenant Parker’s desk. The headline reads BUZZ KILLER ROCKS VIRGINIA. Special Agent Benedict then slams another newspaper on top; the headline reads BUZZ KILLER BACK FROM THE DEAD.

SPECIAL AGENT BENEDICT
If I assign you to this case can I trust you to stay neutral?

Lieutenant Parker glances at the picture on his desk.

LIEUTENANT PARKER
It has to be a copycat.

SPECIAL AGENT BENEDICT
I hope you’re right Lieutenant, for your sake and Miss Collins.

Lieutenant Parker straightens up his tie.

LIEUTENANT PARKER
I’m committed to this case Sir.

EXT. CRIME SCENE. DAY

Lieutenant Parker strides purposefully along the gravel into a darkened alley.

The alley is littered with COPS in suits and FORENSIC SCIENTISTS.

In the entrance of the alley lies the body of SARAH MELLARK, her once beautiful face is painfully silenced by a bloody slit across her throat. Her head is smoothly and precisely shaved.

Lieutenant Parker bends down next to the body, overcome by emotion he places his head into his hands.

Lieutenant Parker pinches the bridge of his nose, takes a deep breath and addresses one of the suited cops – Lieutenant Davis.

LIEUTENANT PARKER
Same M.O. Throat slit, head shaved. No other visible markings?

LIEUTENANT DAVIS
              There is one difference sir.

Lieutenant Davis hands Lieutenant Parker a plastic evidence bag, inside it is a white card with two words printed onto it. EVE COLLINS.

Lieutenant Parker drops the arm containing the bag limply to his side.

He drags his free hand through his hair aggressively, grabbing hold of a clump of it tightly. He swears under his breath, before taking a deep breath and letting go.

LIEUTENANT DAVIS
That’s her name isn’t it sir.

Lieutenant Davis makes reluctant eye contact with him.

LIEUTENANT DAVIS
              The one that survived.

INT. VIRGINIA STATE POLICE STATION. DAY

POLICE OFFICER TONY PACK leans lazily in his seat, slumped onto his desk struggling to fill out a crossword puzzle. Next to the puzzle is a half-eaten sandwich.

Eve stands over him with her hands on the desk leaning angrily towards the officer.

EVE
Just let me wait somewhere for him. I’m not leaving till I’ve spoken to him.

The police officer sighs and takes a bite of the sandwich leaving a trail of mayonnaise and crumbs across the desk.

He hastily scribbles out an answer he’d gotten wrong. Then answers her uninterestedly, still chewing the mangled remains of his sandwich.

OFFICER PACK
Like I’ve told you Miss Colling he isn’t available.

Eve sighs and pushes off the table in frustration.

EVE
              Collins. Miss Collins.

A low growl sounds in the back of her throat as she storms past the officer towards Lieutenant Parker’s empty desk.

Officer Pack stands up quickly in alarm.

OFFICER PACK
              You can’t go back the-

Lieutenant Parker enters the police station and strides past Officer Pack waving his hand in a gesture of silence.

He walks straight up to Eve without hesitation.

EVE
Is it him? The reporters, they’re saying he threatened me.

Lieutenant Parker places a comforting hand on Eve’s shoulder.

LIEUTENANT PARKER
I’ll keep you safe Eve, you know I’d never let anyone hurt you.

Eve shakes off his hand and closes the remaining gap between them, she takes a deep breath and asks slowly and calmly pronouncing each word succinctly.

EVE
              Protect me from who?

Lieutenant Parker looks at the floor.

Eve explodes in outrage at not being answered. Shouting loudly she asks again.

EVE
              Is it him?

Several of the OFFICERS working in the station turn to see what’s happening. Noticing the disruption Lieutenant Parker gently grabs Eve’s elbow and leads her towards an interrogation room. Eve allows herself to be lead with a defiant expression shadowing her face.

INT. INTERROGATION ROOM. DAY

The room is silent and still, furnished simply with a large desk and two uncomfortable looking chairs on each side.

Lieutenant Parker sits on the desk and runs his fingers through his hair, sticking it up in messy spikes.

EVE
              Well?

LIEUTENANT PARKER
It can’t be him Eve. There’s no way he survived the fire, you barely did and that was with the help of the hospital.

Eve wipes at a tear threatening to spill form her eye.

EVE
              If I hadn’t woken up.

She takes a deep breath and attempts to calm herself.
EVE
If I hadn’t heard the buzzing.

Lieutenant Parker grabs her upper arm softly, stroking it soothingly with his thumb.

LIEUTENANT PARKER
              But you did wake up.

He tilts her head up forcing her to look at him. She sniffles quietly. He smiles at her affectionately

LIEUTENANT PARKER
You woke up, you fought and you survived Eve Collins.

Overcome by emotion he turns away andwalks slowly towards the door of the room.

LIEUTENANT PARKER
You’re the only one that did.

Eve approaches him carefully placing a tentative hand on his shoulder, she stands in front of him.

EVE
She could be alive Toby. Abigail could have escaped.

Lieutenant Parker laughs under his breath and shakes his head.

LIEUTENANT PARKER
How many times do we have to have this argument Eve? She’s dead. No one escapes him.

Lieutenant Parker turns away from Eve obviously ending the conversation. She spins him round, forcing him to confront his emotions. Her voice shaking with frustration, she argues with him loudly.

EVE
As many times as it takes for you to listen to me Toby.I escaped. I got away. She could of too.
Eve risks a glance at Lieutenant Parkers face, soften by the emotion she sees on it she continues gently.
EVE
They never found a body Toby, just hair, you know that. You know she cou-

Lieutenant Parker interrupts solemnly his eyes brimming with tears he’s too afraid to shed. He replies in a quite voice.

Lieutenant Parker
She’s dead Eve. I’m sorry but you need to accept that my sister is never coming back.

Eve opens her mouth to respond, just as Special Agent Benedict knocks on the door.

He enters the room cautiously and looks around uncomfortably looking for somewhere to focus his eyes.

SPECIAL AGENT BENEDICT
              I’m sorry to interrupt.

Special Agent Benedict glances up and makes eye contact with an emotional Lieutenant Parker. He clears his throat before turning to Eve.

SPECIAL AGENT BENEDICT
Miss Collins could you please give us a moment?

Eve nods quietly and tucks her hair behind her ear she gives Lieutenant Parker’s should a last comforting squeeze before slipping out of the room.

Lieutenant Parker locks his gaze with Special Agent Benedict’s.

SPECIAL AGENT BENEDICT
I’m sorry Toby, they’ve found another body.

Lieutenant Parker’s posture straightens up.

SPECIAL AGENT BENEDICT
He left a strip of hair on the body.

Special Agent Benedict takes a deep breath readying him for the next blows he has to deliver.

SPECIAL AGENT BENEDICT
They think the hair belongs to Abigail.

Wrapped In Roots.

So today, instead of posting another review (which I'm positively itching to do) I'm going to post my final draft of the first ever script I wrote! I wrote this script in the first semester of University studying Media Writing and Production and it earned me a first It's only a microshort so it comes in at 3 pages, which in industry standards means 3 minutes when filmed. I hope you all enjoy it! If there are any fellow script writers on here please lemme know, so I can follow you and check out your work. Anywho! Here it is.

INT. KITCHEN. DAY

PHOEBE stands by the window above the sink, stressed and nervous.

Phoebe turns the tap on and begins to fill the kettle with water, all the while staring distractedly out of the window. The water begins to overflow on her hands. She sees ELENA sitting under a large oak tree out of the window, and drops the full kettle in to the sink.

EXT. BACK GARDEN. DAY

Elena sits on the wet grass in the back garden underneath a large oak tree.

Elena has two dolls in her hands, one male and one female. She’s role playing a conversation between them.

ELENA [AS FEMALE DOLL]
I’m so sorry RICHARD.

ELENA [AS MALE DOLL]
You’re worthless! You never do anything right!

ELENA [AS FEMALE DOLL]
Please stop, I’m sorry. I’m sorry!

Elena frowns and starts to dig a hole in the mud.

INT. KITCHEN. DAY

Phoebe walks to the table with a cup of coffee, and sits it down on a coaster. She sits at the table, looks in the direction of the window, and suspiciously removes a small book that was sellotaped underneath the table top.

Phoebe picks up a pen off the table, opens the book and begins to write. EVERY SO OFTEN, I WONDER IF ELENA KNOWS.

Phoebe wipes a tear from her cheek, calms herself, and glances at a clock on the wall.

EXT. BACKGARDEN. DAY

Elena has finished digging her hole, and has placed the male doll inside it. She starts to pat the mud back into place on top of him.

ELENA
Now you can’t shout or call her names. She’ll stop crying all the time.

Elena starts to hum ‘If you go down to the woods as she’s patting the mud back into place.

INT. KITCHEN. DAY

Phoebe carefully replaces the book in its hiding place and walks to the open back door.

PHOEBE
Elena! It’s time to get washed up and ready for dinner.

EXT. BACKGARDEN. DAY

Elena picks up her female doll. She continues to hum ‘If you go down to the woods today’ as she gently strokes the doll’s hair until its smooth and off of the dolls face.

Elena furrows her eyebrows looking distressed at a mark on the dolls dress, and carefully wipes at the dirt.

Elena smiles and kisses the top of the dolls head.

ELENA
              Coming mummy!

Elena smiles warmly at her mother as she turns and goes back into the kitchen.

Elena pushes herself up off the floor, and starts to skip towards the house. As she passes the other side of the large oak tree, she pauses.

Elena walks to a spot below a particularly large branch and stares at a patch on the ground that has only the smallest blades of grass starting to grow on it.

ELENA
              Goodnight Daddy.

Elena shakes her head, with a small frown on her face. She then looks up towards the kitchen window sees her mother and smiles.

Elena starts to hum ‘if you go down to the woods today’again and skips back in to the house.

INT. KITCHEN. DAY

Elena skips in the kitchen and straight up to her mother. She wraps her arms around her mother in a loving cuddle.

Phoebe
Be as cute as you want, you still need to get cleaned up!

Phoebe laughs and kisses the top of Elena’s head.

Phoebe walks over to the table and picks up a hairbrush.

Phoebe walks back over to Elena, stands behind her and starts to brush her hair gently with the brush.

Phoebe starts to hum ‘If you go down to the woods today’.

Elena glances at the kitchen window, she sighs under her breath and starts to smile a little bit.

Elena
I’m glad you’re happy again mummy. I love you.
